Post-Workout Snack

Hi Everyone!

Part of my plans for Eboni Curls is to expand the topics I post and share with you all. Another passion of mine includes Fitness and Nutrition. At the tender age of 15, I had my own fitness article publish in a national magazine titled "Vervegirl"- a large turning point in my writing career. I am also a Fitness & Nutrition Columnist for "Do-You," posting what I can about everyday nutrition, staying healthy, and being happy with who you are.

I decided to start including the foods I am eating just as a starting point for Eboni Curls. Food is another thing I love- who doesn't?! But often times it is food that is the downfall of many goals for weight loss and/or healthier living. Nonetheless, here is a snap of the snack I had after my workout- yummy!

- 1 Cucumber
- 1 cap full of Apple Cider Vinegar
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tsp of Lemon juice
- Water
- 2 tbsp Fat Free Ricotta Cheese
- Black & cayenne pepper (optional)
- Oregano, garlic powder & a drop of honey (all spices can be altered to what you'd like!)
- 2 Slices of Whole Wheat Bread

Cucumbers: To make the cucumbers, use the 'long' side of a cheeses grater to get very thin cucumber slices. Make sure you have already skinned the entire cucumber!

1. To make the cucumbers, grab a bowl and put the slices pieces in. Add in apple cider vinegar, salt, black & cayenne pepper (optional!) and a bit of water. Make sure there is enough water in the cucumbers to make them soak.
2. To make the ricotta cheese spread, first give the cheese a stir to create a smoother appearance. At this point, you may begin adding spices. The reason I wrote "all spices can be altered to what you'd like!" is because you can create your own ricotta cheese spread recipe! I included dashes of oregano, garlic powder, thyme, black pepper and cayenne pepper. This is just a guideline- remember to make it your own and try new flavours! After adding the spices, add a drop of honey, and mix.
3. Once you've mixed finished the toppings, put the bread in the toaster. I left mine in until it was crunchy on the outside and a bit soft on the inside. Apply your toppings and you're done!

If you've tried this recipe, feel free to let me know about it in a comment! You can also email me at if you've got any questions.
