Foods to Try & their Benefits

As the summer rolls by, I've been finding out about new foods to help me stay healthy and feeling great throughout the day. This past week, I've bought greek yogurt, whey protein powder and almond milk. Here are some health tips and benefits on these foods.

The Benefits of Greek Yogurt For one, it's got almost double the amount of protein as regular yogurt. The amount of protein helps you feel more filled up- thus keeping you away from constant unnecessary snacking! Greek yogurt also contains less carbohydrates, and lactose which makes it easier to digest, and beneficial to those who are lactose intolerant. It's also got a great smooth, creamy taste.

The Benefits of Whey Protein Powder are plentiful. It can help develop muscles, control your weight, and helps your body recover. It's also very versatile and can be used in shakes, as a drink or even in pancakes! Click here to find some great recipes that include whey powder! My recipe for a protein shake includes the following:

- 1/2 cup of almond milk
- 8-10 Strawberries
- a handful of blueberries
- 2 scoops of Whey Protein Powder
- 1/3 cup of vanilla Greek Yogurt (any flavour can be substituted)
- 1 tbsp of honey (ONLY when using plain greek yogurt)
*feel free to add any other fruits, this is just a guideline!

 Blend until smooth. Serve cool. 

The Benefits of Almond Milk are great for everyone on the "dairy" scale. Whether you're lactose intolerant, don't like milk or LOVE milk, Almond milk works for all. It doesn't contain artificial colouring or flavouring, and it's great to have with your morning cereal! Sometimes for a snack, I'll have some almond milk and granola sort of like cereal and milk- it's really filling and healthy to!


I've been loving all these foods to the fullest. They're great on keeping me full and they're very versatile and quick- it's great!
