New Definition of Fast Foods

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all are enjoying the summer sun- the days are passing by quickly! Since it's a part of the Summer Spirit to indulge on yummy, sugary 'fast foods', I decided to make a post about fast foods- but healthy, delicious foods that you can make, fast!

One main thing about 'fast foods' is you don't necessarily have to go out grocery shopping. Most of the ingredients should already be in your household. By substituting the definition of fast foods for something quick and healthy that you can make at home, you can save money and your body!

'Fast Foods' are great for when you're serving guests or dinners. For example, today I had NO clue what to eat for lunch, so I made myself a stir fry using whole wheat pasta, celery, tomatoes, mushrooms, soy sauce and some seasonings. It took me no longer than 15 minutes, and it'll definitely keep me full.

Things to Consider when making quick foods:

1) Fruits and Veggies. Vegetables are always great when making quick foods. They help keep you more full without the bloating or extra calories. Try going for green, leafy vegetables. They'll equip you with lots of vitamins and energy to get you through the day. Fruits are also great! They can help eliminate unnecessary measurements of sugar. Blend up some fruits for a great low cal smoothie- much better than the 'fruit smoothies' from McDonald's!

2) Packaging. Macaroni and Cheese, Soup to Go, Mr. Noodles are not the fast foods we're talking about here! Remember that fast foods are usually foods that are fully prepared by you. Making a power shake or a batch of healthy banana bread counts! Just remember that the foods being prepared shouldn't be packaged or pre-made. The more organic- the better!

3) Time. Since these are fast foods, we don't want them to take more than half an hour to prepare. Make sure when you're making these foods, you consider the amount of time it takes to chop/boil/chill etc. We wouldn't want our bodies to get hungrier than necessary!
